Melbourne has been very warm so far in January but it's the weather that I love. We're fortunate to have a swimming pool that all our kids and grandkids can enjoy and so Charli got to experience her first dip in the pool last week. It was a scorcher of a day, 36 degrees, but that meant that the water was lovely and warm and no problem for baby Charli. She seemed to be really enjoying it, almost as much as big brother Ayden who was having a ball with Daddy throwing him about and having swimming races.
The only time Charli was not so happy was when Nanny here dipped her under the water, naturally she was a bit upset at first but she's used to having a shower with Mum or Dad and having the water fall over her face, so she recovered quickly. I've always advocated swimming lessons for babies from as young as possible, did you know they have a natural instinct to not breathe whilst underwater? It's so important for us to ensure that all our grandchildren become familiar with the water and learn to swim at an early age. Of course we would never leave any children unattended but it's comforting to know that they can get themselves out of trouble if needed.
All in all it was a wonderful day and I can't wait for the next time we see Charli back in the pool this summer.
